Chinese martial arts, with its long history, and the highly artistic lion dance performances also have a long tradition in Macau and are one of the most beloved traditional performances. Today, traditional martial arts and lion dancing have gradually evolved into physical fitness activities, attracting more and more participants.
The 2015 Macau Lion Dance and Martial Arts Heritage Promotion Program – Lion Dance & Chinese Martial Arts Appreciation Night features performances including lion dance, Choy Li Fut, Tai Chi, and weapon demonstrations. The event guides the audience to understand the origins of the lion dance which emphasizes form and technique, the origins of different martial arts schools, as well as their associated etiquette and taboos, promoting traditional Chinese lion dance and martial arts culture.
