Yu Huijun, the leader of the Occultation Section of the Hong Kong Astronomical Society, has long been dedicated to promoting the observation of occultations, lunar flashes (transient lunar phenomena caused by meteoroid impacts), asteroids, meteors, and exoplanets.
In this "Light Up the Stars: Occultation and Variable Star Observation" session, he will share with the public the definitions, observation methods, and significance of observing occultations and variable stars. The talk will explain celestial phenomena such as "occultation," "eclipse," and "transit," demonstrate techniques for observing and tracking small celestial bodies, and elaborate on the importance of studying the minute periodic changes in asteroid brightness.
