Big Mouse Children's Theatre Group warmly presents a year-end production: Life Healing Theatre: Being a Mother. This is a family-friendly theatrical work suitable for all ages.
How can a father and daughter untie a lingering knot and move beyond a familiar predicament? Big Mouse Children's Theatre Group's 'Brother Ivan' and young actress Carrie wholeheartedly bring this loving theatrical work to Macau audiences.
Breaking the boundaries of co-viewing for children and parents, this is a heartwarming and healing stage play for families to enjoy together. Audiences will enter the theatre and, through interaction, explore a life story about love and companionship.
Life Healing Theatre: Being a Mother originates from a real family in the UK. The story was adapted by British playwright Chris Cooper from true events. The playwright was moved by the story of a daughter and her father creating a cardboard 'mother' and decided to bring it to the stage.
After the wife's passing, the father and his daughter, Yiyi, are left to navigate life as a duo. The father hopes to take good care of his daughter, accompany her through her grief, and begins to explore how to build a new life with her.
During their time together, the father discovers that his daughter has made a 'mother' out of a cardboard box. She plays games with it, takes it to the supermarket, and even to school. Although the father finds it strange, his continuous care and companionship help his daughter gradually heal from her pain. In the end, they hold hands and embark on a new life journey together.
