Yueju, or Cantonese Opera, is a traditional art form with a history of over 300 years. Performed in Cantonese, it is popular in Guangxi, Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao, and is the most influential multi-voice opera genre in southern China. It is listed by UNESCO as a 'Masterpiece of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity'.
The performance is presented through the four fundamental skills of singing, acting, reciting, and martial arts, combined with music, costumes, props, and stage settings. Its charm remains undiminished in Macao, where it continues to be one of the most popular performing arts.
