Macau's independent theatre arts group, Hiukok Theatre, presents two compelling plays this month, showcasing the power of local creative talent.
A phone call can be hung up at any moment, but a letter cannot be 'hung up.' This play tells the story of a man and a woman who begin writing letters to each other from elementary school. Every Christmas card and New Year's greeting becomes an expression of love.
The story revolves around an elderly woman born on February 29th. She has eight children, but they are scattered and rarely visit. On her 'once-every-four-years' birthday, she gets ready early, hoping to welcome her children and grandchildren. Unfortunately, her busy children cannot make it. It's less of a birthday celebration and more of an excuse the grandmother creates for her children to visit.
