Zheng Yongchun, affectionately known as 'Uncle Mars', holds a Ph.D. in Science with a specialization in geochemistry. His primary research focuses on planetary science and deep space exploration. He is a researcher and planetary scientist at the National Astronomical Observatories of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, a popular science writer, the inaugural image ambassador for 'Science China', and the National Chief Science Communication Expert of the China Association for Science and Technology. He is a researcher passionate about science communication. He is also the first Chinese recipient of the Carl Sagan Award, a former member of the editorial team for the Science textbook for primary schools, and has been recognized as one of China's Top Ten Science Communicators.
