A professional training course on post-disaster psychological recovery following Typhoon Hato, organized by the Macao Psychological Society and co-organized by the Social Welfare Bureau and the Public Administration and Civil Service Bureau, was held on Thursday, August 31, at the Pui Ching Middle School Auditorium. Approximately 574 local social workers and psychological professionals participated in the two consecutive sessions.
The training aimed to equip participants with knowledge on post-disaster psychological rehabilitation. It focused on understanding the stress reactions residents may experience after a disaster, principles of early intervention, and providing psychological support and counseling to those in need. This contributes to promoting psychological education on post-disaster stress management across society.
Participants from the social service sector will organize various community activities. Specifically, the Social Service Department of the Macao Anglican Church will host three sharing sessions, welcoming citizens in need to participate or seek assistance.
