Competition Overview
The GMEC (Global Mathematics Elite Competition) is an international academic contest for students from kindergarten to high school. The Macau Region Preliminary is the first step for local students to compete on a global stage.
Competition Features
- Two Tracks: Mathematics and Olympiad (students can compete in one or both).
- Age Groups: Covers K1-K3, Primary 1-6, and Secondary 1-6 (each grade competes separately).
- Bilingual Questions: All exam papers are provided in both Chinese and English.
- Question Types: Multiple-choice and short-answer questions.
- Global Reach: The competition spans multiple regions including the USA, UK, China, Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia, and more.
Awards & Recognition
Individual Awards (Preliminary Round)
- Gold Award: Top 10% of participants (certificate and medal).
- Silver Award: Next 15% (certificate and medal).
- Bronze Award: Next 25% (certificate and medal).
- Top Three per Grade: Certificate and trophy.
School & Instructor Awards
- GMEC Outstanding Guidance School: Awarded to schools with Gold Award winners.
- GMEC Outstanding Guidance Teacher: Certificate for teachers of Gold Award winners.
- GMEC Outstanding Guidance Learning Center/Tutor: Award for external tutoring centers or private tutors of Gold Award winners.
Global Finals Incentive
Top three global winners in the finals will be invited to the "A Conversation with Professors" session at the GMEC Awards Ceremony.
Macau Preliminary Details
- Date: Sunday, March 24, 2024
- Location: Macau (specific venue to be announced)
- Registration Deadline: Friday, March 1, 2024
- Fees:
- MOP 250 for one track (Mathematics or Olympiad).
- MOP 450 for both tracks (exams will be held in consecutive time slots).

- How to Register: Complete the Google Form.
- Mock Paper: Each registered participant will receive one mock exam paper. Papers are sent via email every Friday of the week following registration. Please check your inbox and spam folder.
