Overview
GMEC (Global Mathematics Elite Competition) is a prestigious international mathematics contest. The Macau Region Preliminary for the 2023 edition invites students from kindergarten to high school to showcase their mathematical talents.
Competition Features
- Organized by: First Education Group in collaboration with leading global mathematics institutions.
- Global Reach: Competition regions include the USA, UK, China, Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, South Africa, Australia, and New Zealand.
- Two Competition Streams: Participants can choose between the Mathematics Group and the Olympiad Group.
- Comprehensive Age Groups: Open to students from Kindergarten (K1-K3) to Primary (P1-P6) and Secondary (S1-S6) levels.
- International Finals: The annual finals are held in Hong Kong.
- Prestigious Rewards: Top global finalists win scholarships for elite training camps.
Competition Details (Macau Preliminary)
- Date: March 11–12, 2023
- Location: Macau (Specific venue to be announced)
- Registration Deadline: February 20, 2023
- Entry Fee:
- MOP 250 for one competition stream.
- MOP 450 for both streams (Mathematics & Olympiad).
- Awards:
- Gold Award: Top 10%
- Silver Award: Next 15%
- Bronze Award: Next 25%
- Exam Format:
- Bilingual (Chinese/English) question papers.
- Includes multiple-choice and short-answer questions.
- A mock paper will be sent via email each Friday after registration.
Grand Prize Opportunities
- Global 1st Place: Full scholarship to the AoPS (Art of Problem Solving) Summer Math Competition Camp in the USA.
- Global 2nd & 3rd Place: Full scholarship to the Chinese Mathematics Association's Taiwan Math Elite Training Camp.
- Top scorers from each region will be invited to the GMEC Math Elite Gathering for a 'Chat with Professors' session.
