Ethnic folk dance originates and circulates among the people, incorporating elements of folklore, culture, style, and self-entertaining improvisation. Folk dances from different regions, countries, and ethnic groups stem from their respective ways of life, resulting in significant differences in performance techniques and styles. Chinese ethnic folk dance is diverse in form, rich in content, and vivid in imagery. It has long been an indispensable source of material for various artistic creations and a key subject in dance art education, seen both in tertiary institution research and in graded examination curricula for popular education.
Graceful Dance Garden organizes this workshop precisely to help the public understand the different stylistic characteristics of ethnic folk dance, explore how dance is closely related to ethnic life and humanistic spirit, and focus on mastering and inheriting the essence of various ethnic dances through different style trainings. We have invited instructor Liao Shuhua, a graduate of the Beijing Dance Academy's Ethnic Folk Dance Department, to teach this four-day workshop. Participants will learn about and understand the common Northeastern Yangko and Tibetan dances in Chinese ethnic folk dance. We welcome individuals with a basic understanding of Chinese dance and dance teachers to register and participate, exploring together the distinctive and fascinating dance culture.
