Feast of St. Anthony and Statue Procession
St. Anthony's Church is one of Macao's three oldest churches, housing a statue of the widely venerated Portuguese saint, St. Anthony, who is also the 'Patron Saint of Marriage' for Catholics. The church holds the 'Feast of St. Anthony and Statue Procession' every June.
Event Details
- 13-Day Novena Masses: Commencing June 1, daily masses are held in Cantonese at 7:10 AM and in Portuguese at 6:00 PM.
- Feast Day (June 14): The main celebration includes a bilingual (Chinese-Portuguese) concelebrated mass presided over by Bishop José Lai at 4:30 PM.
- Statue Procession: The annual procession begins at approximately 5:30 PM from St. Anthony's Church Square. The procession carries the saint's statue through the area, passing landmarks like Camões Garden (白鴿巢公園), before returning to the church.
