FAMA (農夫), the iconic Hong Kong independent and mainstream Rap Talk and Hip Hop duo formed in 2000, brings their 'Waiting for Money' World Tour to Macau. The group consists of members 6Wing (Luk Wing Kuen) and C-Kwan (Cheng Sze Kwan).
The duo's name, 'FAMA' (Farmer), has an official and a humorous origin. Officially, they see themselves as sowers of Hip Hop seeds, aiming to plant the genre in Hong Kong and China as part of local culture, promoting a 'One Asia for all Asian' concept. Their lyrics express perspectives on social issues, life, attitudes, love, sex, and the spirit of Hip Hop. The more candid story is that they named themselves after seeing someone in baggy, rolled-up Hip Hop pants who looked like a farmer, finding the name memorable and down-to-earth.
C-Kwan and 6Wing are high school friends who bonded over a love for hip hop. They started writing lyrics and eventually formed a rap metal band called System Map, winning the 'All Hong Kong Youth Band Competition' in 2001. Their journey continued with forming a hip hop group, releasing their first album, and signing with DJ Tommy's label.
