About the Competition
The Excellence International Music Open Competition (EIMOC) is a prestigious international music competition founded in 2013 by Mr. Zheng Jiliang, who returned from Germany to Taiwan. Dedicated to the noble and pure spirit of classical music, it provides a professional stage for music students of all ages.
Competition Philosophy
- Origin: Rooted in the orthodox tradition of European classical music.
- Mission: To help young musicians ascend to the sacred hall of classical music, realize their artistic dreams, and achieve excellence.
- Environment: Insists on using international-quality concert halls, top-tier Steinway concert grand pianos, and other instruments to create a professional and comfortable competition setting.
Competition Structure & Highlights
- Judges: The judging panel consists of front-line performers and professors, renowned for their fairness and professional depth.
- Excellence Music New Talent Award: Since 2015, winners are invited to perform at the "Excellence Music New Talent Award - Winners' Concert." High-quality recordings are broadcast on the Medici Arts Channel.
- Regional Expansion: Has established regional competitions in major cities across Asia-Pacific, including Taipei, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Beijing, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Macau, and more.

Age Divisions
- Preschool Group
- Primary 1 to Primary 6 (separate group for each grade)
- Secondary 1 to Secondary 6 (separate group for each grade)
- Open Group
- Performance Group (participants receive comments, certificate, and commemorative crystal trophy; no scoring)

- Piano Competition: Solo, Piano Four Hands, Pop Piano (Performance Group only for regional competition)
- String Instruments: Violin, Viola, Cello, Double Bass
- Woodwind Instruments: Flute, Clarinet, Oboe, Bassoon, Saxophone
- Brass Instruments: Trumpet, French Horn, Trombone, Tuba, Euphonium
- Percussion Instruments: Snare Drum, Marimba, Bass Drum
- Chinese Traditional Instruments: Erhu, Bamboo Flute, Pipa, Yangqin, Zheng, Sheng, Xiao, Suona, Guqin
- Chamber Music: Trio (3), Quartet (4), Quintet (5)
- Vocal Competition: Solo (with piano accompaniment), Choir (with piano accompaniment), Choir (a cappella)
Competition Rules
Time Limit
- Preschool to Primary 2: 3 minutes for one self-selected piece.
- Primary 3 to Adult Group: 4 minutes for one self-selected piece.
Scoring & Awards
- Ranking: 1st to 10th place (1st place requires a minimum score of 85).
- Grade Awards:
- First Prize: Average score of 85 or above.
- Second Prize: Average score of 83 or above.
- Third Prize: Average score of 80 or above.
- Prizes:
- 1st to 3rd place: Trophy and certificate.
- 4th to 10th place: Crystal medal and certificate.
- Grade award winners receive corresponding grade certificates.
- All other participants receive a participation certificate.
- Teachers who recommend students receive a "Teacher Appreciation Certificate."
Macau Regional Competition Details
- Date: May 12, 2019
- Registration Fee: MOP 480 per participant.
- Duet Fee: MOP 320 per participant.
- Group Fee: MOP 20 per participant.
- Registration Deadline: April 30, 2019
Finals & New Talent Award Concert
- Eligibility for Finals: Regional competitors who achieve a Second Prize (score of 83 or above) qualify for the 2019 EIMOC International Finals.
- 2019 Finals Venue: Gongxueshe Concert Hall, Luzhou, Taipei City.
- Excellence International Music New Talent Award Concert:
- Date: December 1, 2019
- Venue: Mozart-Saal, Wiener Konzerthaus, Vienna, Austria.
- Selection: The top 15 finalists, chosen by judge vote, perform their competition pieces (complete movements) at this concert in the heart of classical music.
