About the Competition
EIMOC (Excellence International Music Open Competition) is an international music competition that provides a stage for music lovers to showcase their talent and achieve excellence.
Competition Categories
- Piano Competition: Solo, Four-Hand Piano, Pop Piano (Performance Group for regional competition only)
- String Instruments Competition: Violin, Viola, Cello, Double Bass, Harp, Guitar
- Woodwind Instruments Competition: Flute, Clarinet, Oboe, Bassoon, Saxophone
- Brass Instruments Competition: Trumpet, French Horn, Trombone, Tuba, Euphonium
- Percussion Instruments Competition: Snare Drum, Marimba, Bass Drum
- Chinese Traditional Instruments Competition: Erhu, Bamboo Flute, Pipa, Yangqin, Guzheng, Sheng, Xiao, Suona, Guqin
- Chamber Music Competition: Trio (3 people), Quartet (4 people), Quintet (5 people)
- Vocal Competition: Solo (with piano accompaniment), Choir (with piano accompaniment), A Cappella Choir
Age Groups
- Preschool Group
- Primary 1 to Primary 6 (separate group for each grade)
- Secondary 1 to Secondary 6 (separate group for each grade)
- Open Group
- Performance Group (Participants will perform and receive comments, certificate, and commemorative crystal trophy. No scoring.)
Competition Format & Rules
Performance Time Limit
- Preschool to Primary 2: 3 minutes for one self-selected piece
- Primary 3 to Adult Group: 4 minutes for one self-selected piece
Scoring Criteria
- 1st to 10th Place (1st place requires a minimum score of 85)
- First Prize: Average score of 85 or above
- Second Prize: Average score of 83 or above
- Third Prize: Average score of 80 or above
- Participants scoring 83 or above are eligible to apply for the 2019 EIMOC International Finals.
Awards
- 1st to 3rd Place: Trophy and certificate
- 4th to 10th Place: Crystal medal and certificate
- First, Second, and Third Prize winners: Grade certificate
- All other participants: Participation certificate
- Teachers who recommend students: "Teacher Appreciation Certificate"
Competition Schedule (Hong Kong & Macau Region)
Important Update: Due to the closure of Hong Kong City Hall in April, the preliminary round originally scheduled for April 26th at the City Hall Concert Hall has been changed to a video submission format.
- Video Submission Deadline: May 22, 2020
- Results Announcement Date: May 29, 2020
- EIMOC Winners' Performance & Award Ceremony: June 28, 2020 at Sheung Wan Civic Centre
Video Submission Guidelines
- Videos can be sent via email to [email protected] or via WhatsApp.
- Performance files can be sent directly from a mobile phone, submitted as MP4 files, or provided as a YouTube link.
- Files must not be edited or undergo any post-production.
All winners will be invited to attend the EIMOC Winners' Performance & Award Ceremony on June 28th at Sheung Wan Civic Centre, where awards, certificates, score sheets will be presented, and winners will perform.
Entry Fees (Hong Kong & Macau Region)
- Individual Entry: HKD 480
- Duet: HKD 320 per participant
- Group (3+ participants): HKD 220 per participant
International Finals
Eligibility for Finals: Regional competition participants who achieve a Second Prize or above are eligible to participate in the 2020 EIMOC International Finals.
