"It was the best of times, it was the worst of times." — Charles Dickens
A group of ordinary, somewhat aimless city dwellers share a passion for acting and dream of making a living from their art. Life is tough, but they face it together, picking themselves up after every setback. Suddenly, their luck changes. This group of friends gets a golden opportunity for a televised performance, a stroke of luck even better than winning the lottery. With this precious chance before them, their creativity explodes. They are determined to create the most spectacular, eye-catching, and representative play of "The Golden Age," aiming to break out of Macao, achieve fame overnight, polish their reputation, and bring honor to their families.
