Round 4: Reading Performance: 'Boxing Gym'
In an industrial building, there is a Wing Chun boxing gym originally managed by Master Cheung. After Master Cheung's passing, the gym was taken over by his senior disciple. However, with high operating costs and difficulty attracting students, the senior disciple struggles to keep the gym afloat. Several years later, Master Cheung's son returns to the gym, and the two clash over whether the gym should stay open or close.
Commonly known as 'Compass,' the Compass Association of Creative Theatre was officially registered as a non-profit organization in September 2016. Its mission is to promote Macao's theatrical arts culture, dedicate efforts to developing original productions, foster collaboration between Macao and external theatre troupes, provide young people with opportunities to engage in performing arts, and offer a platform for creating theatrical art.
In January 2019, the Compass Association of Creative Theatre Arts Centre was formally established as the troupe's base for rehearsals and production.
Key Milestones:
The troupe's core members are Yu Chi Kit and Li Wai Wing. Yu Chi Kit graduated from the Department of Drama and Theatre at Chinese Culture University in Taiwan and holds a Master's in Cultural Industries Management from City University of Macau. He has over a decade of experience dedicated to Macao's theatre arts, having previously served as a drama teacher at Macau Baptist College and Hou Kong Middle School, and is currently a performing arts teacher at Escola de Aplicação Anexa à Universidade de Macau. Li Wai Wing is a stage and film actor, host, and playwright. With experience in large-scale productions and school tours, the troupe members aim to promote and produce more high-quality Macao theatrical works, gradually moving towards becoming a semi-professional or professional theatre company.
