Chang Art Troupe presents a staged reading of the Macau play "Desert Island" on June 14 and 15, 2014, at 4:00 PM. This event aims to promote script reading and support local creative works.
"Desert Island" is a symbolic play written by Li Panzhi in 1991. The story revolves around a poet, characters A, B, C, a woman, and a wealthy man who are stranded on a deserted island for over ten days. It explores the eternal conflict between the spiritual and material worlds, a theme that remains relevant over two decades later. Playwright Li Panzhi was active in the theatre scene from the late 1980s to the late 1990s, known for works such as "Angel's Accusation," "The Death of Superman," "Wonder Woman Also Emigrates," and "Back to the Days of Garbage."
This reading is part of the "Macau Script Reading" series, which presents selected local and international classic plays through a faithful, text-based approach. The series aims to offer audiences a new theatrical experience and explore stage creation starting from the foundation of script reading.
Chang Art Troupe is a newly established Macau arts group, officially registered as a non-profit organization in 2013.
