A theatrical performance exploring the social landscape of Macao through the lens of its infamous traffic congestion and the concept of class.
About the Performance
This work uses a 2015 commentary on Macao's traffic problems as a starting point to examine the city's social fabric. Two decades later, with one of the highest vehicle ownership rates in the world, the daily commute of over 600,000 residents continues to crowd the narrow streets.
Key Themes
- Traffic as a Social Mirror: The performance questions whether the view from different "class" windows—cars, buses, taxis, motorcycles—shows a different "landscape" and experience of "change."
- Questioning Progress: It provocatively asks if any real change has occurred amidst the constant gridlock and social stratification.
