Purpose
To allow students passionate about debate to learn the writing techniques and thinking methods for speeches and debates. Through different themes, participants can write speech and debate drafts, publish related works via an electronic platform, and receive expert critiques from elite debaters from various regions, enabling them to learn and continuously improve.
Event Details
- Quota: 25 people per session (Participants can register for one or multiple sessions on a first-come, first-served basis.)
- Eligibility: Secondary school students from all schools in Macao
- Venue: Youth Convergence Centre (Unit B, 1st Floor, Block 2, Fit Industrial Building, 215 Avenida de Venceslau de Morais, Macao)

Training Schedule & Instructors
Session 1
- Date & Time: March 1, 14:30–16:30
- Theme: Overview of Public Speaking and Debate
- Content: 1. Opening ceremony (introduction to the training plan and instructors, participant self-introduction). 2. The development history of public speaking and debate. 3. The significance of learning public speaking and debate. 4. The mindset for learning public speaking and debate.
- Instructor: Ms. Yang Yinghong – Over 15 years of experience coaching secondary school and university debate teams, currently a Chinese Consultant and Cantonese Debate Team Coach at Macao Polytechnic University.
Session 2
- Date & Time: April 12, 14:30–17:30
- Theme: Coordination of Argumentation and Rebuttal
- Content: 1. Building strong arguments – the key to victory. 2. Effective rebuttal – on-the-spot assembly. 3. Research for debate. 4. Group practical exercises.
- Instructor: Mr. Liu Jingqiang – President of the Debate Union, secondary school debate team coach, university debate team assistant coach, former captain of Macao Polytechnic University debate team.
Session 3
- Date & Time: June 14, 14:30–17:30
- Theme: Highlights of Public Speaking and Debate
- Content: 1. How to create highlights? Content creation and presentation techniques! 2. Observe first, find your own style! 3. Shining practice – the stage is yours!
- Instructor: Mr. Zhang Haijun – Current Chairman of the Debate Union, part-time secondary school debate team coach, university debate team assistant coach.
Session 4
- Date & Time: August 9, 14:30–17:30
- Theme: Cultivation of an All-Round Debater
- Content: 1. Discussion on debate script writing. 2. Debate oratory skills. 3. Cultivation of psychological resilience.
- Instructor: Ms. Guan Jiaxi – Participated in Macao secondary school and university intercollegiate debate competitions for seven consecutive years.
Session 5
- Date & Time: October 11, 14:30–17:30
- Theme: The Dramatic Charm of a Speaker
- Content: 1. The first step onto the stage. 2. "Acting" in speaking – how to bring your lines to life. 3. Crisis management on stage. 4. Practical演练.
- Instructor: Mr. Xiang Yiqian – Former secondary school drama club advisor, current Deputy Director of Qi Yi Ge Drama Club and contract director, Deputy Chairman of the Debate Union.
Judges & Expert Critics
- Xu Guojie: NLP, MBTI certified trainer, professional public speaking trainer.
- Lin Zhensheng: Long-time judge for Macao secondary school and university debate competitions.
- Ma Weiwei: Former famous debater from Sun Yat-sen University.
- Hu Jianbiao: Represented Malaysia in the "International University Debate Championship".
- Liu Jingjing: Coach of the University of Macau Mandarin Debate Team.
- Mu Rigen: Coach of the Macao Polytechnic University Mandarin Debate Team.
Rewards
- The two best works, voted by judges and participants, will be published in "Macao Student" magazine.
- The three participants with the best cumulative performance over the five sessions in a year will be awarded the "Debate and Public Speaking Training Field" Outstanding Student Award.
