"Peony · Good Fortune" is a dance theatre piece that explores the transformation of Macau's society through the lens of its history and community development. It contrasts the vastly different lives of today's youth with those of the young people from 30 years ago. The work is inspired by and set against the backdrop of the "Mau Tan Lau" (Peony Building) and "Kat Cheong Lau" (Good Fortune Building) in the Iao Hon district of Macau. Through the story of this community's origins, development, and present state, the performance narrates the shifts in the mindset and daily life of Macau's youth since the 1970s, particularly focusing on the experiences of new immigrants from that era.
