Overview
The Cultural Affairs Bureau presents the October edition of the Cultural Lecture Series, featuring three free public lectures conducted in Cantonese. The sessions cover diverse topics from arts administration and experimental animation to a deep dive into Macao's historical role in the coolie trade.

Lecture 1: I'm Also a Manager – The Work of an Arts Administrator

- Speaker: Theatre Producer Zhao Qi
- Content: Shares how arts administrators drive the comprehensive development of culture, arts, and society through artistic planning, and explores their roles and functions.

- Speaker: Local Animator Shan Jin
- Content: Introduces the artistry and cultural influence of experimental animation, shares personal creative experiences, and encourages the public to appreciate animation in more diverse ways.

Lecture 3: Selling 'Piglets' – The Blood and Tears of Macao's Coolie Port
- Date & Time: Friday, October 28, 2022, 8:00 PM
- Speaker: Local Historical Researcher Lao Jiayu
- Content: Explores the tragic history of the mid-19th century, when large numbers of Chinese contract laborers, derogatorily called 'piglets,' were sent overseas to work, and examines Macao's history as a port for the coolie trade.
Venue
All lectures will be held at the Cardinal Newman Hall (G/F, 55 Rua de Francisco Xavier Pereira, Macao).
Registration & Admission
- Admission: Free of charge.
- Eligibility: Open to citizens aged 13 and above.
- Registration: Online registration is available through the Cultural Affairs Bureau's "Activity Registration System."
- Lottery System: If applications exceed the quota, participants will be selected by lottery. Successful applicants will be notified via SMS or email; unsuccessful applicants will not be notified separately.
Health & Safety Measures
In accordance with health department guidelines and government pandemic prevention work, all attendees must:
- Wear a self-provided mask.
- Undergo body temperature checks.
- Scan the venue QR code (Venue Code) for travel records.
- Present a valid health code for the day.
- Follow all on-site pandemic prevention and crowd control measures.
