'Borrow a Body' is a collaborative work created with local Macau residents.
Historically, the phrase 'borrowing land to dry water-soaked goods' was one explanation for how the Portuguese obtained the right to reside in Macau from China. In this work, the keyword 'borrow' is extended and given new meaning—to share, to exchange, and, more importantly, to experience a series of unusual and unexpected scenes and moments.
Through encounters with different cultures, histories, and people, 'Borrow a Body' focuses on expanding the body and its expression. By establishing a series of connections with different times, spaces, bodies, objects, experiences, and emotional effects, the work presents a wondrous creative journey. This creativity does not stem from the projection or will of a single individual but from collective interaction and intersection. When faced with various complex and diverse materials, 'Borrow a Body' does not rush to provide judgment or results (i.e., expression). Instead, by delaying decisions and extending time, it allows us to perceive the hidden details and relationships.
The importance lies not only in organizing expression through this process of delay but in allowing us to approach a new state—becoming more sensitive and nuanced towards the life and things around us.
