Competition Overview

The United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) has been in effect in Macao since 2008. To foster continued awareness of the Convention among local students and promote the full and effective participation of persons with disabilities in society on an equal basis with others, the Social Welfare Bureau is organizing a student Chinese essay competition themed on the CRPD. Submissions are accepted from now until February 29, 2016.

Competition Details

• Theme: The content of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.
• Eligibility: Students from Primary 4 to Senior Secondary 3 (Grade 4 to 12) studying in Macao.
• Categories:
  • Upper Primary Group
  • Junior Secondary Group
  • Senior Secondary Group

Prizes & Recognition

• Each group awards one Champion, one First Runner-up, one Second Runner-up, and five Merit Awards.
• Winners receive trophies, cash prizes, and gift vouchers.
• Winning entries will be featured in a touring exhibition across Macao.
• A collection of winning works will be published online for promotional purposes.

Submission Guidelines

• Format: Articles must be submitted as both Word (.doc/.docx) and PDF files.
• Required Documents: Completed application form and a copy of the student ID card.

  • In-person submission of the original manuscript on paper, along with the application form and student ID copy, at:
    • Social Welfare Bureau Rehabilitation Services Division
    • Rehabilitation Services Comprehensive Assessment Centre
• Submission Period: December 1, 2015 – February 29, 2016.
