The world's greatest and most adored musical, CATS, comes to The Venetian Theatre for a strictly limited season. Seen by over 70 million people worldwide, CATS first opened in London in May 1981 to rave reviews and went on to win a record-breaking number of awards internationally, including seven Tony Awards and two Olivier Awards (Musical of the Year and Outstanding Achievement of the Year in Musicals). It holds the record for the longest-running musical in West End history, playing for 21 years, and played for 18 years on Broadway. It has been presented in over 26 countries, in about 300 cities, and translated into 14 languages.
Based on T.S. Eliot's book of poems "Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats" (1939), CATS tells the imaginative tale of a tribe of Jellicle cats as they gather for the annual Jellicle Ball. One by one, they tell their stories for the amusement of Old Deuteronomy, who must choose one cat to journey to the Heaviside Layer to be reborn into a new life.
CATS is a phenomenon you must not miss!
