About the Program

Do you know what left-behind children are? As of 2018, statistics show there are approximately 6.97 million left-behind children in mainland China. For a long time, they have faced the risk of sexual assault. Are you familiar with their situation?

Do you think domestic poverty alleviation only involves donating supplies or general volunteer teaching? Come join a different kind of caring program for left-behind children.

This program involves a series of training sessions to help volunteers learn how to interact with left-behind children. Using picture books published by the Sin Meng Association, volunteers will personally teach children how to protect their bodies and raise their self-protection awareness. After the outreach, volunteers will maintain monthly letter correspondence with the children to accompany them as they grow.

Program Structure

Phase 1: Pre-Outreach Training

• Learn about left-behind children and related knowledge
• Learn teaching methods using picture books for sexual assault prevention

Phase 2: Outreach Service

• A 5-day, 4-night trip to mainland China
• Personally interact with left-behind children
• Teach them how to prevent sexual assault and raise self-protection awareness

Phase 3: Letter Correspondence

• Maintain monthly letter communication with the children after the outreach
• Accompany them through their growth
