BOK Festival (Theatre Fight Theatre) is an annual experimental theatre festival that has been exploring the possibilities and forward-looking nature of theatre since 2013 under the concept of 'interconnection, working hard, and fighting with all you've got.' The festival invites artists from various fields to showcase experimental works, bringing new energy to Macau's theatre scene.
This year's theme is 'Connecting Alternative Theatres'. The program is divided into:
Continuing from last year, BOK Club is a gathering where the audience can interact with the artists after the shows. This year, the number of sessions is increased to 16, held in a different small theatre each night. A ticket for the 'Give it a Shot' series includes access to BOK Club with a free drink.
The festival expands its scope this year, connecting eight privately-run performance spaces across four Macau neighborhoods (Kun Iam Tchai Temple area, Estrada de Coelho do Amaral, Avenida do Almirante Lacerda, and Rua dos Pescadores).
Private Venues: Pou Fong Industrial Building, LIVE Music Association, Ox Warehouse, Hiu Kok Theatre, Wind Box Community, Step Out Small Experimental Theatre, Casa de Portugal, Hiu Kok Lab.
Public Venues: Macao Cultural Centre and Black Box Theatre at Old Court Building.
The festival aims to prove that theatre is accessible and can be found in common community spaces, fostering a more vibrant local cultural atmosphere.
