About the Performance

This work was commissioned by Zuni Icosahedron in November 2016 and premiered at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre Studio Theatre, receiving significant acclaim and being selected for the Hong Kong Dance Awards that same year. After its run at the National Theater & Concert Hall in Taipei in June 2018, choreographer Danny Wong will refine the original quartet version into a solo piece, pushing 'The Rite of Spring' as an experiment in symbolism to its conclusion.

'The Rite of Spring' is a confrontation between body and mind, involving sacrifice/ritual/creation/performance. It departs from the symbolic meaning the musical composition has held since its inception, rather than focusing on its plot or narrative.
