Biologist Janine Benyus first combined the meaning of life sustainability with biomimetic technology in 1997, coining the term 'Biomimicry'. 'Bio' means 'life' in Greek, and 'mimesis' means 'to imitate'.
Biomimicry is an interdisciplinary science, with applications spanning biology, materials, engineering, medicine, mechanics, and agriculture. By observing and analyzing the natural environment and the ecology and structures of animals and plants, people gain inspiration. They apply the wisdom of 3.8 billion years of biological evolution and adaptation to innovate technology or product design, providing solutions to various problems faced by society.
This exhibition is divided into six zones, introducing visitors to biomimetic technology inventions and future developments through displays of animal and plant specimens, carvings, models, multimedia animations, and short films.
