If you could go back to that day, who would you most want to see?
On an unnamed backstreet, there is a café with an incredible urban legend. It is said that if you sit in the café's mysterious seat, you can return to the day you wish to go back to. However, the time you can stay in the past lasts only until the coffee gets cold. Even if you return to the past, you cannot change what has already happened.
People carrying their own heartaches experience miraculous encounters at this magical café, weaving countless stories of love and regret: a career woman who was dumped wants to salvage her relationship as she watches the person she loves emigrate; a wife hopes to see her husband, who suffers from dementia, back when he still recognized her; a sister who has been avoiding her family finally decides to face her loved ones, but is it too late? A pregnant mother, for whom life is an unknown, wishes to travel to the future to meet her daughter.
Before the Coffee Gets Cold is a stage play created by Japanese author Toshikazu Kawaguchi. Adapted into a bestselling novel of the same name worldwide and praised as "making you cry four times," it was also made into a film. This production in Macau is the world's first Chinese-language version, personally supervised by Toshikazu Kawaguchi.
Family, love, happiness, regret, and emotion—every nuance of warmth is dissolved into a rich cup of coffee.
