A group of girls, some as young as seventeen or even younger, don oversized military uniforms to become female warriors defending their nation. At an age when they should be holding dolls, they carry rifles... What does love look like when it brushes past death on the battlefield?
This is a theatrical work that contemplates war and gender, depicting the situation of women during and after wartime. In addition to experimenting with multidisciplinary elements of drama, music, and physical theatre, the performance specially invited Mr. Lin Wenwei, a full-time prison officer and human rights activist painter, to integrate his beliefs into live sketches. The performance will not employ a binary approach that emphasizes women while antagonizing men. Instead, it aims to reveal the essence of humanity and the multiple roles of female warriors. Throughout history, people on the battlefield have been seen as "consumables," and women after the war are even labeled as "defective goods," struggling to reintegrate into family and society. Through creation and the artistic process, the work hopes to convey an aspiration for peace and non-violence, wishing that the physical and mental states of every brave soul are no longer "imprisoned" in dark corners.
