"Where there are Chinese people, there is the Awakening Lion!" The brand-new tech-infused ethnic dance drama Awakening Lion: MGM Grand is set to captivate audiences this December, presenting a classic cultural performance masterpiece from the Greater Bay Area.
MGM has joined hands with the Guangzhou Song and Dance Theatre to recreate the large-scale tech-infused ethnic dance drama Awakening Lion: MGM Grand, based on the original award-winning dance drama Awakening Lion, which won China's highest dance award, the "Lotus Award." This production brings the millennia-old Lingnan culture to the stage in a 70-minute condensed version. With a tight plot, it fully utilizes the cutting-edge technology of the MGM Theatre and its world's largest permanent indoor LED screen. The spectacular performance integrates lion dance, Southern Chinese martial arts (Nanquan), and dance, combining real scenes with virtual effects to deliver a refreshing visual impact, boldly innovating to showcase the essence of Lingnan culture.
"With awakening as the spirit, and the lion as the root," the production is themed around national awakening. Starring principal dancers Yilifan, Zhu Jinhui, and Pang Guanyu from the Guangzhou Song and Dance Theatre, it uses traditional culture as its expression, highlighting the rich characteristics of Lingnan and achieving innovation in ethnic dance drama. Awakening Lion: MGM Grand is the must-see large-scale tech-infused ethnic dance drama of the year, set to become an emotional bond for Chinese people worldwide!
