The Macau Theatre Symposium is an annual academic platform for discussing Macau's theatre culture. It encourages Macau theatre creators, critics, and researchers to present papers and case studies on topics such as Macau theatre history, development trends, policy research, and reflections on creative experiences. Following previous themes of 'Rethinking Resources', 'Language', and 'Space', this year's symposium focuses on 'Arts Criticism and Education'.
Arts Criticism and Education: Macau Theatre Symposium 2017 will be divided into two parts:
How can drama appreciation and criticism become part of school drama education? Can it be integrated into school drama classes or other subjects? Theatre critics from Macau, Hong Kong, and Taiwan will share their practical experiences in universities, secondary, and primary schools.
Where there is performance, there is criticism. Critics and promotion agency representatives from Macau, Hong Kong, and Taiwan will explore the promotion of criticism, the development of theatre critics, and potential collaborations with various arts festivals and performance groups.
