As part of the 'Art Macao' series, the 'Golden Years' contemporary ceramic art exhibition was held simultaneously at The Venetian Macao, The Parisian Macao, Sands Macao, and Four Seasons Hotel Macao from June 8 to October 9. It showcased over 90 works by world-class contemporary ceramic artists from 13 countries and regions.
Porcelain originated in China, and Macao was a crucial hub on the Maritime Silk Road. Fragments of Kraak porcelain from the mid-16th to 17th centuries can still be unearthed in coastal areas today. To honor Macao's significant contribution as a major transit point for Chinese porcelain exports, Sands China selected ceramics as the theme for this exhibition.
The exhibition was planned over 10 months, curated by internationally renowned ceramic master Zheng Yi. It invited 27 top ceramic artists from around the world, including the curator herself, to create works based on the theme 'Golden Years.' Most of the exhibited pieces were custom-made for the exhibition and incorporated 'gold' elements to align with the theme. Among them, three artworks were created by three late, famous international ceramic artists.
Furthermore, four artworks from this exhibition were loaned for display at the main venue of the 'Art Macao International Art Exhibition,' the Macao Museum of Art, from June 6 to October 8. The works included:
