An exhibition and community project inspired by the "Tou Tei (Earth God) Cult," featuring artworks and creations from a series of handicraft workshops.
The "Art in Community Project – Art Lands on the Bird Paradise" is the continuation of the community art project initiated last year. Drawing from the 2013 experience, this year's program aims to foster closer interactions between artists and the Horta da Mitra (Bird Paradise) community.
This year's theme is "Land Culture." A series of handicraft workshops were launched in May for residents and visitors. The project promotes handicraft creation, using new materials and techniques to interpret traditional "Land Culture." Some workshops used the Earth God or Goddess as a creative theme, allowing participants to learn skills while engaging with traditional culture.
The program also included talks on folk traditions. The first talk was hosted by Mr. Vong Kai Fai, Vice President of the Tou Tei Temple Association, who discussed the Earth God Festival and related activities like the "Scramble for Floral Tributes" and "Festive Lantern-bidding," traditions that have become rare or forgotten.
