Organized by the Macau Visual Arts Industry Association and funded by the Macau Cultural Affairs Bureau, the 'Collection‧Art Series' will be held from October to November this year. Building on the 2012 'Art Investment Series', this year's focus shifts more towards art collection, aiming to foster a collecting atmosphere in Macau. The series comprises three parts, with the first installment, 'Contemporary Art: Collection and Investment Lecture', taking place on October 4 at the 27th floor of Nam Van Commercial Centre. This free lecture offers an opportunity to understand the basic concepts of art collection and investment, exploring alternative possibilities for collecting and investing. Online registration is now open.
Dr. Zhao Xiaoxuan, Chairman of Yuanpei Academy and Consultant Lecturer for the CEIBS Collectors Club, will be the keynote speaker. Born in Taiwan and having developed her career in Mainland China, Dr. Zhao has held significant positions in numerous art institutions and authored the influential 2011 book 'Seventy Questions on Art Collection and Investment'.
While many have heard sensational media stories of record-breaking art prices and legends of 'collecting to wealth,' the art market often remains an enigma. As China's economy has rapidly developed, its domestic art market has matured significantly. Similarly, Macau, having grown prosperous with economic development, holds considerable potential for its art collection and investment market. This lecture will analyze the art markets of Taiwan, China, and Asia, providing a step-by-step introduction to art appreciation, purchasing, and collection, paving an entry path for those interested in the art collection market.
MVAIA is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting the development of Macau's visual arts industry. In recent years, it has organized a series of art investment lectures and courses to promote the concepts of art collection and investment locally, cultivate art administration talent, and advocate for the integration of art with sales and exhibition channels.
Born in Taipei, Taiwan, Dr. Zhao holds a Ph.D. in Chinese Literature from Fu Jen Catholic University. She is a seasoned professional in the art industry, with extensive experience analyzing art market trends and teaching courses on art appreciation, collection, aesthetics, and humanities.
