Areia Preta Park, opened on October 27, 2003, is a large, L-shaped semi-open park located in the busy northern district of Macau. It serves as a vital 'urban lung' for the area, providing green space and recreational facilities to local residents. The park is uniquely designed with Portuguese-style cobblestone paving throughout.
The park is well-equipped with a diverse range of amenities:
The park is divided into three independent sections by streets, connected by a main path paved with distinctive Portuguese cobblestones. Ground surfaces primarily use Portuguese碎石, with black and yellow pebble paths weaving through play areas and lawns. The open-air plaza is paved with rare red Portuguese stone, adding vibrant color.
An overpass at the northeastern end connects the park to the Areia Preta Seaside Park.
Originally built on reclaimed land, the park now plays a crucial environmental role by helping to mitigate noise and purify air pollution from the surrounding major thoroughfares. It is one of the larger and more comprehensively equipped parks in Macau's urban core.
