Concert Overview
Presented by the Macau Band Directors Association, the "Amazing Winds" Macau Youth Wind Orchestra concert will be held on Saturday, April 4, 2015, at 8:00 PM at the Macau Cultural Centre's Grand Auditorium.
Featured Soloists & Program
The concert will feature local young musicians performing as soloists with the Macau Youth Wind Orchestra:
- Xu Lili (Marimba): Performing Rutter's Concerto for Marimba and Wind Orchestra.
- Deng Kailun (Clarinet): Performing Spohr's Fantasy for Clarinet and Orchestra.
- Cen Jialun (Tuba): Performing Newton's Capriccio for Tuba and Band.
- Li Zibo (Saxophone): Performing Schwerner's Headless for Saxophone and Wind Ensemble.
In addition to these four solo works, conductor Liang Peilong will lead the orchestra in performing several wind band pieces, including Appermont's Robinson Crusoe, Hoshide's arrangement of Amazing Grace, and Holsinger's Bravura.
Soloist Biographies
- Xu Lili: Holds a Master's in Percussion from Carnegie Mellon University and is currently a percussionist with the Guangzhou Symphony Orchestra.
- Deng Kailun: Graduated from Fu Jen Catholic University in Taiwan, majoring in clarinet.
- Cen Jialun: An IT educator who has obtained the Licentiate of the Royal Schools of Music (LRSM) diploma for tuba while maintaining a dedicated practice routine.
- Li Zibo: A high school student at Pui Ching Middle School who has excellently passed the Grade 8 saxophone examination from the Royal Schools of Music.
All soloists are actively involved as instrumental tutors in various Macau schools, contributing to the development of wind and percussion music education in the region.
