Purpose

AIDS is not scary. By helping the public better understand what AIDS is, we can play a role in preventing it. This competition aims to have participants convey the message of AIDS prevention to society through their four-panel comic creations.

Eligibility

Open to all interested individuals. Participants can enter as individuals or in groups. Group size must not exceed five people.

Competition Rules

• Theme Requirement: The four-panel comic must involve conveying the message of AIDS prevention to the public. Topics can include: routes of AIDS transmission, how to interact with AIDS patients, how AIDS patients receive treatment, how to view AIDS patients fairly, etc. (To learn about AIDS knowledge, visit the Macau Government AIDS Prevention Committee website: www.aids.org.mo).
• Dimensions: Each panel of the comic must be 10cm (length) x 8cm (height).
• Creative Concept Introduction: The work must be accompanied by a text description of at least 30 words.
• Format: Works must be created using computer graphics with a resolution of no less than 300dpi (clip art from computer software is not allowed).
• Color: Black & white or color are acceptable.
• Length Requirement: Four panels constitute one entry (layout from left to right, top to bottom).
• For fairness, the work must not contain any information identifying the contestant.

Registration & Submission

• Interested participants must log in to the association's website (www.macauacs.com) to download the relevant registration form. After completing the form, submit it together with the entry via email to: [email protected]. (If the file is too large, send a link from Dropbox, SkyDrive, or other cloud systems for the association to download.)
• Submission Deadline: May 3, 2014, 11:59 PM.

Judging

• Judging Committee: Composed of professionals.
• Judging Criteria for Four-Panel Comics:
  • Theme Relevance: 50%
  • Creativity: 30%
  • Composition & Overall Quality: 20%

Awards

• Award-winning works will receive a certificate of commendation and a cash prize as encouragement. Awards are set as follows:
  • Champion (1): MOP 2,500 cash prize and certificate.
  • First Runner-up (1): MOP 1,500 cash prize and certificate.
  • Second Runner-up (1): MOP 1,000 cash prize and certificate.
  • Merit Award (5): MOP 200 cash prize and certificate each.
• The organizer reserves the final right to decide the number of awards and award winners.

Result Announcement

Winners will be notified by email on May 19, 2014, and the list of winners will be published on the association's website (www.macauacs.com).
