Presented by Stage Fans as part of the "Black Box Theatre Performance Project 2013" organized by Theatre Farmers, this production brings to life the acclaimed play by renowned American playwright John Pielmeier, "Agnes of God". Following the project's first production, this performance unites theatre elites from Hong Kong and Macau.
In a convent, the bloodied body of a newborn baby is discovered discarded in a wastepaper basket. The mother of the dead infant is revealed to be Sister Agnes, a nun of simple nature within the convent. The court appoints psychiatrist Dr. Livingstone to assess the mental state of Agnes, who is charged with murder. Mother Miriam, the Mother Superior of the convent, engages in a fierce debate with Dr. Livingstone over religion versus science in her effort to protect Agnes.
This event is part of the Black Box Theatre Performance Project 2013, organized by Theatre Farmers and funded by the Macao Foundation and the Cultural Affairs Bureau. The project aims to organize and curate performances, providing more opportunities for local theatre enthusiasts to learn, practice, and perform, collectively promoting the diversified development of Macau's theatre scene.
