About the Play
Against the Light is the graduation work of playwright Yeung Lai-kei, a graduate of the Macao Conservatory Drama School's Basic Playwriting Course Level 3. The first version was performed at the Conservatory Auditorium in 2017. After years of reflection and refinement, a new version has been created. Route Arts Association also held a script reading presentation of Against the Light on the 7th of last month, where playwright Yeung Lai-kei, director Mok Ka-ho, actors Chan Nga-ching and Lam Wai-tung, along with other local theatre practitioners and audience members, exchanged ideas and shared feedback on the script.
Synopsis
"The reason for the father's accidental death is a knot that the mother and daughter have never been able to untie.
They are like walking into the blinding sun, facing it directly. The harder they try, the less they can see each other clearly..."
