About the Performance
The Academy of St Martin in the Fields is acclaimed as one of the world's finest chamber orchestras. Since its founding in 1958, it has been revered by music lovers worldwide. For this special Macau performance, the orchestra's founder, the legendary conductor Sir Neville Marriner, will personally lead the ensemble, offering audiences a rare chance to witness his commanding presence.
The orchestra's name originates from the St Martin-in-the-Fields church in London, where it gave its first concert in 1959. Renowned for its exquisite and flawless performances, the orchestra collaborates with stellar artists and performs over a hundred concerts annually in prestigious halls across Europe, Asia, and the Americas. It is also one of the world's most recorded chamber orchestras, with its first gold disc being Vivaldi's The Four Seasons in 1969. In 2013, a recording with violinist Joshua Bell topped the classical charts, solidifying its place with over 500 albums.
