About the Contest
The 6th Macao Vocational English Contest is now open for applications! This competition provides a platform to showcase English proficiency and creativity, specifically within the sports services industry. It aims to encourage professionals in Macao's sports sector to enhance their English language skills, contributing to the city's development as a 'City of Sports' and enriching the connotation of Macao as a world center of tourism and leisure.
Industry Theme
Sports Services English
Examples include sports management activities, sports competitions/performances, fitness and leisure activities, sports venue and facility management, sports education and training, sports media and information services, sports agency and representation, sales/rental/agency of sports goods and related products.
Contest Categories & Eligibility
The competition is divided into two groups:
- Student Group: For secondary school and tertiary students in Macao.
- Open Group: For Macao residents aged 18 or above (as of March 17, 2025) or non-resident workers holding a valid Non-Resident Worker's Identification Card.
Key Rules:
- Participants can enter as individuals or teams (max 5 members).
- Each individual/team can only join one group.
- At least one member from each participating team must attend a Video Production Workshop to qualify.
Entry Specifications & Requirements
- Video Format: Create a vocational English video of no more than 5 minutes (including all credits) using a smartphone, digital camera, or simple recording equipment.
- Content: Must revolve around the application of vocational English in the daily work of the sports services industry.
- File: Max size 1GB, saved in wmv/mpeg/mpeg2/mp4/mov/m4a format, uploaded to personal cloud storage or YouTube (unlisted link) for submission.
- Subtitles: Must include both Traditional Chinese and English subtitles.
- Other: Provide a team name, video title, and a Chinese description (max 100 words).

Competition Briefing Session
- Date & Time: Saturday, March 1, 2025 (15:00–16:30)
- Venue: Head Office of Macao Productivity and Technology Transfer Center (7th Floor, The Macao Chamber of Commerce Building, No. 175, Shanghai Street, Macao)

Video Production Workshops (Mandatory)
Venue: Same as above.
- Session 1: March 22, 2025 (14:30–15:30)
- Session 2: March 22, 2025 (16:00–17:00)
- Session 3: March 23, 2025 (14:30–15:30)
- Session 4: March 23, 2025 (16:00–17:00)
Application & Submission Timeline
- Registration: Complete online registration and select a workshop session on or before March 17, 2025 via the official website.
- Document Submission: Email required identification documents to [email protected] (subject: "6th Vocational English Contest", group, and team name).
- Final Submission: Submit the video title, Chinese description (max 100 words), and video link via email to [email protected] between March 18 and April 9, 2025 (subject: "6th Vocational English Contest" submission and team name).
Prizes 🏆
Both Student and Open Groups will have the following awards:
- Gold Award: Trophy, MOP 6,000, and a set of PEIC e-learning materials.
- Silver Award: Trophy, MOP 5,000, and a set of PEIC e-learning materials.
- Bronze Award: Trophy, MOP 4,000, and a set of PEIC e-learning materials.
- Creative Award: Trophy, MOP 3,000, and a set of PEIC e-learning materials.
(Note: The Creative Award may not be presented if no entry meets the judging criteria.)
All qualified participants (whose submissions meet the contest specifications) are eligible for one free Pearson English International Certificate (PEIC) exam (valued up to MOP 2,070) on a designated date.
