Overview
The 38th Macao Youth Music Competition, originally scheduled earlier, has been postponed due to the impact of the novel coronavirus pandemic. The competition will now be held from August 15 to September 6, 2020. Registration is open from April 8 to 21, 2020.
Organized by the Cultural Affairs Bureau, this competition aims to actively promote the development of classical music in Macao. It provides a valuable performance platform and learning opportunities for local youth, encouraging participants to explore their musical potential.
Competition Details
- Event Period: August 15 – September 6, 2020
- Registration Period: April 8 – 21, 2020
- Categories: The competition features Western and Chinese instrumental music, as well as vocal categories, including:
- String Instruments
- Woodwind Instruments
- Brass Instruments
- Chinese Instruments
- Vocal
- Eligibility: Open to Macao ID holders born in or after 1999 (instrumental groups) or 1995 (vocal group).
Awards
- Group Competitions: Each group awards 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places, along with Merit and Commendation awards.
- Special Grand Prize Competition (Solo): Junior, Intermediate, and Senior levels each have an overall Champion, 1st Runner-up, and 2nd Runner-up.
- The Senior Level Champion is awarded the Cultural Affairs Bureau Grand Prize.
- Ensemble Categories: The 1st place winners from each ensemble category are eligible to compete for the Best Ensemble Performance Award.
Registration Process & Fees
- Registration Method: Online pre-registration followed by fee payment and document submission.
- Online Pre-registration: April 8 (10:00) – April 21 (18:00) via the official competition website: www.icm.gov.mo/cjmm
- Document Submission & Fee Payment: April 16 – 21 (10:00 – 19:00, no lunch break) at the Cultural Affairs Bureau Building, Tap Siac Square.
- Registration Fee: MOP 100 per category.
- On-site Assistance: Participants can also visit the Cultural Affairs Bureau Building during the document submission period with all required documents. Staff will assist with the online registration process on-site.
