Competition Overview

Objective: To enhance local youth's interest in fashion design and production, stimulate their creative potential, increase their understanding of the clothing design process, and cultivate new talent for the local fashion industry.

Content: The competition consists of three parts: draping, sewing, and creative design. Participants must use muslin on a mannequin to create a specified garment, then cut and sew a specified style of dress using a sewing machine within the competition period from August 12 to 15, 2023 (four consecutive days, totaling 21.5 hours). Finally, they will apply creative design to the dress based on this year's theme: 'Roaming the Metaverse'.

Eligibility for Participation (40 slots): Secondary school students aged 13 to 18 (as of June 26, 2023) who hold a Macau Resident Identity Card. Must present ID and student card for verification upon registration.

Eligibility for Competition (30 slots): The top 30 participants from the pre-competition training class who achieve an attendance rate of 80% or higher and receive the highest evaluation scores.

Awards:

• Champion (1): MOP 3,500 cash prize and trophy
• First Runner-up (1): MOP 2,500 cash prize and trophy
• Second Runner-up (1): MOP 1,500 cash prize and trophy
• Best Craftsmanship Award (1): MOP 800 cash prize and trophy
• Best Creative Design Award (1): MOP 800 cash prize and trophy
• Most Promising Newcomer Award (1): MOP 800 cash prize and trophy
• Merit Award (3): Trophy

Registration Method

Participants can initially register by filling in personal details in the online registration system (a staff member will contact the participant to arrange registration), or submit a completed application form to any of the following offices:

Registration Fee: MOP 300 (Fee includes: pre-competition training class, venue facilities, and competition materials). Participants who successfully enter and complete the competition will receive a certificate of participation and a refund of MOP 200 from the registration fee.

Important Notes

Before the competition, the Centre will organize a mandatory pre-competition training class for all participants. It will teach methods and techniques for draping, sewing, and creative design, allowing participants to learn and practice the competition content and improve their mental preparedness.
