The 'Contemporary Circus Festival' is initiated by Homegrown Theatre and a group of circus art performers, presenting contemporary circus art in a carnival format. Everyone, adults and children alike, is welcome to join the fun and find joy!
As part of the 'Fringe Within the Fringe' unit of the Macau City Fringe Festival, the 'Contemporary Circus Festival' will take place on January 27 and 28 at the Old Yee Long Firecracker Factory site. Under the theme '#Chill-Level Circus Factory', this year's festival invites performers from Macau, Hong Kong, and Taiwan to bring audiences a two-day circus dreamscape from 10:00 to 19:00, featuring stage performances, street shows, and acrobatic juggling competitions.
Original performances will be brought by Taiwan's 'Circus Gate', Hong Kong's 'One-Third Circus', and Macau's 'Little Red Dot Clown Companions'. The former two offer playful explorations of performance by young jugglers, while the latter presents theatrical clown performances.
This year, the festival is likened to a factory, forging performers' diverse talents into the most useful tools, transforming bodies into spectacles and creativity into ultimate skill. 'Artisans' from various performing arts fields will 'practice their craft' with the public visiting the 'factory' over two days from 10:00 to 19:00, interacting with the venue—the Old Yee Long Firecracker Factory site—to forge new relationships and broaden the imagination of circus, inviting you to join in.
