Purpose
To promote China's excellent cultural traditions, improve students' ability to write Chinese characters correctly, further cultivate students' interest in writing and practicing, enhance the standard of Chinese pen calligraphy, and nurture the cultural temperament of Macau students.
Competition Groups & Eligibility
- Junior Secondary Group: Students currently enrolled in Form 1 to Form 3 in Macau.
- Senior Secondary Group: Students currently enrolled in Form 4 to Form 6 in Macau.
- Tertiary Group: Macau students currently enrolled in tertiary institutions in Macau or elsewhere.
Competition Date & Venue
- Venue: Hou Kong Middle School (Main Campus)
- Date: November 14, 2021 (Sunday)
- Session Times:
- Session 1: 08:30–10:00
- Session 2: 10:30–12:00
- Session 3: 14:00–15:30
- Session 4: 16:00–17:30
Note: Due to pandemic prevention requirements, afternoon sessions have been added. Final session times for each group will be announced separately.
Competition Format & Rules
- Format: On-site, impromptu writing within 90 minutes. Font style is unrestricted.
- Content & Specifications: The topic is set by the organizing committee and will be announced in advance on the Macau Student Union website. All groups use the same topic.
- Paper: Special competition paper provided (grid size 1.05×1.05cm, 15 rows × 20 columns = 300 grids).
- Writing: Write vertically from right to left using a blue or black ballpoint pen, gel pen, rollerball pen, or fountain pen. Do not copy the title or punctuation, and do not leave spaces.
- Prohibited: Correction tools, erasable pens, missing/incorrect characters, simplified Chinese characters, or writing your name on the paper. Only one sheet of paper may be replaced during the competition.
Awards
Each group will have the following awards: Special Excellence Award, First Prize, Second Prize, and Selected Award. Awards may be withheld if entries do not meet the required standard.
Registration
- Registration Period: From now until October 15, 2021.
- Registration Fee: MOP 30.
- How to Register: Download the group/individual registration form from the Macau Student Union website. Send the completed form and a copy of your student ID to [email protected], or submit in person at Wah Lung Industrial Building, 9th Floor.
- Collection of Competition Pass & Payment:
- Dates: November 5–12, 2021
- Location: Wah Lung Industrial Building, 9th Floor, No. 131 Avenida do Almirante Lacerda, Macau
- Pay the fee when collecting your pass (please bring exact change).
- A MOP 10 fee applies for pass replacement on competition day.
Important Notes for Participants
- Arrive at the competition classroom 15 minutes early with your competition pass.
- Late arrivals (more than 20 minutes after start time) will be disqualified.
- Bring your original student ID or ID card (copies not accepted).
- Follow all instructions from invigilators and the organizing committee.
- No tracing or bringing calligraphy reference materials.
- Electronic devices must be switched off or set to silent.
- All entries will not be returned.
- Winners will be announced on the Macau Student Union website within three days after the competition.
- All attendees must comply with pandemic prevention measures, including temperature checks, presenting the Macau Health Code, and wearing a mask.
- Participants must leave the venue within 15 minutes after their session ends.
