About the Competition
The 21st Macau Secondary School Book Review Essay Competition is now open for submissions. This event aims to promote a culture of reading among Macau students and enhance their Chinese language proficiency. All secondary school students in Macau are welcome to participate.
Competition Details
- Theme: "Take a Book to the Future"
- Objective: Through themed reading, students are encouraged to care about the present, contemplate the future, unleash their imagination, appreciate the benefits of reading, and understand the enlightening power of books for future generations and themselves.
- Categories: Junior Secondary Division and Senior Secondary Division.
- Word Limit: Junior Division – not exceeding 1,500 words; Senior Division – not exceeding 2,500 words.
- Submission Limit: Each participant is limited to one entry. Each school can recommend up to 20 entries per division. Students may also enter individually.
Awards
Each division will award the following prizes:
- Champion (1)
- First Runner-up (1)
- Second Runner-up (1)
- Merit Award (7)
The judging panel will consist of renowned local writers, scholars, and representatives from the organizing bodies.
Important Dates & Information
- Submission Period: From now until the deadline.
- Submission Deadline: January 20, 2016 (Wednesday), 5:45 PM.
- Awards Announcement: The list of winners will be announced in early March 2016 in the Macau Daily News and on the Macau Foundation website.
How to Submit
Entries, along with the completed application form, must be mailed or delivered to one of the following addresses. The envelope must be marked "Participation in the 21st Macau Secondary School Book Review Essay Competition":
