Macau is a city where multiple ethnicities live together, and festivals from around the world are celebrated here. In April, the New Year of Southeast Asian countries such as Myanmar, Thailand, and Laos – the Water Splashing Festival – arrives. The three-day "21st Macau Myanmar-Chinese Water Splashing Festival" brings a series of celebratory activities. During the "Water Blessing Parade" and the "Large Water Splashing Carnival," people of all ages splash water on each other to symbolize washing away the old and welcoming the new, as well as to convey blessings. The large "Float Parade" travels through the Macau Peninsula, Taipa, and Coloane, spreading festive wishes across all districts. During the festival, the Sam Jan Deng area, home to a large Southeast Asian community, features a "Myanmar and Southeast Asian Food and Culture Street" with numerous food stalls, allowing visitors to taste authentic Southeast Asian delicacies. As night falls, lively ethnic song and dance performances are held here, showcasing the rich cultural customs of Southeast Asia.
