The 12th Macao-wide English Speech Contest & The 19th '21st Century Cup' National English Speaking Competition Macao Regional Contest

Aims: To encourage people from all walks of life to learn English, to promote English language teaching, as well as to enhance English proficiency throughout Macao.

• Open Category
• College Category
• Senior High School Category
• Junior High School Category
• Upper Primary School Category (students enrolled in years 4-6)
• Lower Primary School Category (students enrolled in years 1-3)

Note: If the number of applicants in any of the categories is below 20, the Organising Committee reserves the right to cancel the competition for that specific category.

Theme: Joy

Eligibility:

• Lower Primary School, Upper Primary School, Junior High School, Senior High School and College: Full-time students enrolled in Macao, whose mother tongue is not English and who have not studied in an English-speaking country for more than one year. Those who have won the Champion prize in any of the previous Macao-wide English Speech Contests should not reapply to compete in the same category.
• Open Category: Citizens 18 years of age or older and holding valid Macao IDs, who are not enrolled as full-time students in Macao, and holders of Macao non-resident working permit. People of various professions and people of international origin are eligible. To be qualified for the award of 'Best Macao High School Graduate', the contestant must be a graduate of both Junior High School and Senior High School in Macao.

Registration Details:

• Online Registration Period:
  • Primary and High School Categories: 2nd – 30th September 2013
  • College and Open Categories: 2nd – 23rd September 2013
• Document Submission Period:
  • Primary and High School Categories: 23rd September – 4th October 2013
  • College and Open Categories: 23rd September – 27th September 2013
• Procedure: Applicants must first complete the online registration on the MPI website and then submit hard copies of the necessary documents to the MPI-Bell Centre of English, 3rd Floor, Meng Tak Building of Macao Polytechnic Institute.
