As we step into 2027, the Macao Youth Symphony Orchestra will present the eagerly awaited 19th Macao New Year Concert, continuing this iconic classical music annual tradition.

The concert will be conducted by Carlo Benedetto Cimento, Principal Conductor of the Salzburg State Theatre in Austria. He will lead the Macao Youth Symphony Orchestra alongside Austrian musicians in performances of Verdi's Nabucco Overture, The Blue Danube, and other waltzes. Several internationally renowned soloists will also join the stage, including Sergei Dogadin, an Austrian violinist and winner of the 16th International Tchaikovsky Competition in 2019, who will perform the technically demanding Verdiana (Fantasy on Themes by Giuseppe Verdi) by Alexey Shor for violin and symphony orchestra. Also featured are Professor Josipa Bainac, mezzo-soprano, and Professor David Hausknecht, pianist, both from the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna. These musicians will join forces to perform classic masterpieces, offering the audience a New Year concert feast that blends elegant style with festive joy through richly layered orchestral music and captivating solo passages.

Since its inception, the Macao New Year Concert has consistently showcased the passion and talent of local young musicians while inviting international music masters to collaborate in Macau, building a bridge for classical music exchange between Macau and the world. Coinciding with the 30th anniversary of the Macao Youth Symphony Orchestra's founding, the ensemble will be joined by over a dozen senior members who are studying or have recently returned from prestigious music schools worldwide. This orchestra of nearly 100 members will demonstrate the fruitful contributions of the Macao Youth Symphony Orchestra to the local music and arts scene. At the start of the new year, the music will encompass both the elegant romance of classic melodies and the unique festive atmosphere of the season, making it suitable for music lovers of all ages.
